Hallux

Hallux is the medical term for the big toe. It is also known as the "big toe" or "big toe" and plays an important role in the stability and rolling movement of the foot.

Various diseases or malpositions of the hallux are known, for example

  • Hallux valgus (crookedness of the big toe, also known colloquially as "bunion")
  • Hallux rigidus (stiffening of the big toe joint)

In anatomical terms, the hallux is the first toe (digitus primus) on the foot, consisting of two bones (the proximal and distal phalanges) and the associated joints, tendons and muscles, which ensure mobility and pressure distribution when walking.
