Digitus

Digitus is the Latin term for "finger" or "toe". In medical terminology, a distinction is made between "digitus manus" (finger of the hand) and "digitus pedis" (toe of the foot). Each digit consists of several small bones (phalanges), which are connected to each other by joints and allow great mobility. They are of central importance for hand and foot function, as they support gripping and supporting functions as well as safe walking and standing.
